Cookies & Cream Mousse
Cookies & Cream anything is always on my radar, and it’s safe to say I’m in total love with the flavor. Rich dark chocolatey cookies with a creamy vanilla counter part…what could be better? Whether it being a candy bar, ice cream, cake, cookies, rice crispy treat, pie crust, truffles…I can’t get enough. However, there is one cookies & cream sweet treat that I could possibly, just by a smidge, call my favorite. Cookies & Cream Mousse! Why does this beat out the competition? Because, it’s perfectly fluffy, oh so creamy, deliciously decadent and packed full of those tasty sandwich cookies! My favorite to use…Double stuffed Oreos! I prefer the extra cream! Who wouldn’t?
The Cream Filling
When my sisters and I were little, my mom would buy us Oreos for our long road trips to Texas. Obviously, my Mom and Dad would sit up in the front two seats. My sisters and I sat in the back with our dogs, a black standard poodle and a little brown dachshund. Little did they know, we’d twist off the tops of those Oreos and get rid of them quickly. We did what any little kid would naturally think…feed them to the dogs! Where else would we put them? After the top was taken care of, we’d scrape off the icing center with our teeth and “dispose” of the bottom chocolate cookie to the dogs. It’s a wonder the doggies didn’t get sick or our parents didn’t catch us giving them the chocolate cookies. It was a win-win in our eyes. The doggies got to snack while we got pure center cookie cream!
I’m an adult now and can eat the chocolate cookies if I must, and I certainly don’t feed the dogs the chocolate part. Their poor little tummies! I love the whole cookie now, although, I’d much rather have the cookies crushed up and used as an ingredient.
Versatile Cookie
My favorite way, as I mentioned earlier, is to use them in cookies & cream mousse. This can be eaten by the spoonful, my favorite way to consume it, or as I use it most, a filling for my cakes. I’ve made it, I don’t know how many times this year already for all the cookies & cream lovers in my family. It complements vanilla, chocolate or even red velvet cake perfectly.
Another fun dessert is to make dirt & worms. Make the filling without the cookies and set aside. Place the cookies into the food processor and make “dirt.” Alternate layering the cookies with the filling for a dramatic appearance in a clear bowl. Buy some colorful gummy worms to place on top and you have a fun dessert kids will love!
After making this many times with much trial and error, I have found this to be my favorite recipe. Just a few simple ingredients: heavy whipping cream, cream cheese, vanilla extract, powdered sugar and of course, Oreos! I just love the addition of the cream cheese. It gives it a subtle tang and an undeniable creaminess. It’s truly amazing.
How to Make
Don’t think twice about making this! It’s quite easy to put together. Cream the cream cheese with powdered sugar until light and fluffy. Then add the heavy whipping cream while the mixer is on low speed. Once all the cream is in the bowl, bring it up to medium speed. Whip it until medium peaks form. If you don’t have a stand mixer, you may whip the cream and gently fold it into the cream cheese.
Next, grab your cookies and break them up into the mousse. Stir just until the cookies are incorporated and no more.
Don’t go over board or your mousse will turn completely brown. No harm in doing so, but I love biting into a big chunk of cookie! Gives it a bit of needed texture!
Come on, you have to try this recipe! Any way you use it, it’s fabulous.
Amazing as this mousse is, Oreo cookies in chocolate mousse is divine too. Just make the mousse and add the cookies! Simple! Get the chocolate mousse recipe here.

Double Stuff Oreos should just be called Oreos, and regular Oreos should be called diet Oreos!

OMG you made me laugh with your sitting in the back seat feeding Oreo bottoms to the dogs anecdote! I adore your “mousse,” and I am right this minute walking to the cabinet to see if my teenager left any Oreos, so I can make this. No lie!
Thanks! It’s awesome, you won’t regret it 😊

Yum. What an indulgent and delectable dessert. It’s to resist a mousse especially with it has cookies and cream.
Wow! This sounds fabulous! And I have to laugh about your story about your dogs. Totally one of the best parts of having a dog is feeding them scraps.
I’m such a fan of cookies and cream everything. I like the lightness of mousse too! I’ll have to try this next.
