Nothing can cheer you up more than an ooey, gooey, chewy, dense, sweet and oh so chocolaty homemade, from scratch, BROWNIE. They’re not cake-like, but decadently fudgy! And being homemade…nothing is better than brownie batter! Just saying…! After you bake the brownies, if any of the batter makes it to the pan, top with a sweet, buttery chocolate icing! I’m personally a bit heavy handed, as always with icing, but you decide what your sweet tooth fancies! Toss a few colorful sprinkles to finish the look!
My Kind of Brownies
These are my kind of brownies, dense, topped with icing with a dash of sprinkles, but I do know that everyone has their favorite version. Add walnuts if you’d like or chocolate chips for an extra burst of chocolate in every bite. Icing or no icing? (Extra icing for me, thanks)! Add a caramel swirl or peanut butter. Or simply bake and enjoy warm from the oven! There’s no right or wrong way, just the sweet way!
To Box or No Box
Everyone’s go to classic brownie is usually the box mix, but seriously, these are just as easy to make and are insanely delicious. Give them a try! You probably have all the ingredients lying around in your pantry already!
Let’s Start Baking
They’re a cinch to make! No mixer needed. That’s the best part! Gather all of your ingredients, get out a bowl and let’s start baking!
Step 1: To make the brownies, start by melting the butter completely.
Step 2: Once it’s melted, add the oil, eggs, granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla. Mix well.
Step 3: To this add the dry ingredients, flour, cocoa and cornstarch. Mix just until everything is combined.
Step 4: Pour into a greased and parchment-lined 8×8 inch pan (I like thicker brownies, but a 9×13 inch pan will certainly work as well if you want thinner brownies) and bake for 25 – 35 minutes. The middle will still be a bit sticky, but that’s how you’ll want them to be. Ooey, gooey, crazy delicious!
Step 5: Next make the icing. Start by melting butter.
Step 6: Then to that add the cocoa, milk and powdered sugar. Stir together until completely smooth.
Step 7: Immediately pour and spread on the brownies. Finish with your favorite sprinkles and enjoy!
