Peanut butter balls are all sorts of delicious. It’s your favorite peanut butter enrobed in silky chocolate with a few extra ingredients sprinkled in to make them even more decadent! OMG, they’re amazing! And, they’re so crazy easy to make! You can have a dessert ready in minutes and bring simple sweet joy into your day and to your family!
All You Need Is 4 Ingredients
You don’t have to be a master at desserts to make these fun treats. It’s literally just four ingredients and a bit of time, which we all pretty much have going for us right now!
Peanut butter, butter, powdered sugar and chocolate. That’s all you need. Maybe a splash of vanilla…but it’s a taste preference. Peanut butter and chocolate alone get me every time. It doesn’t need any more flavor enhancements! But on a side note, you’re more than welcome to add chopped up peanuts, oatmeal or dried fruit for some added texture, if you’re into that scene! For me…basic is better!
Let’s Start Baking
Quite simple and easy! To start, cream the butter until it’s light and fluffy. Add the peanut butter and whirl them together until they’re combined. Then carefully add the powdered sugar and mix until incorporated completely. The dough will look crumbly. Don’t fret! When you squeeze it together it’ll keep its shape! Portion into little balls, I like to make them about 1/2 inch in diameter or smaller. I tend to make them smaller so they’re bite size, poppable, and because they’re just more fun that way! Plus, the chocolate to peanut butter ratio is more even! However, make them any size you’d like!
Next, pop the balls into the freezer for about 30 minutes and melt some chocolate in the meantime. Any kind will do! Dark, milk or white and, although I prefer couverture quality chocolate because it has a thinner, more silky consistency, I did use chocolate chips this go around. It’s all I could find in this crazy Covid-19 craze. Coat the peanut butter balls completely and place onto a sheet of parchment or wax paper to harden. I just used a couple of forks and passed it back and forth until most of the chocolate was drained off.
They certainly don’t have to look perfect by any means. After they were coated I put them into the refrigerator and melted some white chocolate chips – just for garnish. This step is totally optional. Take the peanut butter balls out and stripe them with the white chocolate. Garnish with fun sprinkles, which are totally optional as well, and it’s time to indulge!

Peanut Butter Balls
Nothing is better than peanut butter and chocolate!
- 1/2 Cup Creamy Peanut Butter (Crunchy PB optional)
- 4 Tbsp Unsalted Butter (Room Temperature)
- 1 Cup Powdered Sugar
- 7 Oz. Semi-sweet Chocolate Chips (Milk & White Chocolate Optional)
Cream the butter until light and fluffy.
Add the peanut butter and mix into the butter until fully incorporated.
Mix in the powdered sugar. The mixture will look crumbly, but once pressed together it will hold its shape.
Form into 24 balls (or however large or small you’d like them) and place onto a parchment lined sheet pan. Place into the freezer for about 30 minutes.
While they’re in the freezer, melt the chocolate over a double boiler or in the microwave in 30 second intervals.
Take the peanut butter balls out of the freezer and cover in chocolate using a fork. Immediately dust with sprinkles or stripe with white chocolate (optional).
