Every cinnamon roll icing just needs a little hint of cream cheese, but nothing overpowering the butter! It’s the perfect ratio! I’m not over the top in love with cream cheese, but just a hint is the perfect amount. Although, if you’re not into the cream cheese scene at all, simply omit it and you still have a crazy tasty icing.
Spread over warm cinnamon rolls and let the magic work. It’ll seep into every crevasse and make every bite sweeter. Lather on homemade or even store bought, bake yourself cinnamon rolls, because, let’s face it, they never ever come with enough icing! Ever!
Plus, this icing only takes just a few minutes and a few ingredients. Butter, cream cheese, powdered sugar, milk and vanilla. So why not throw a batch together?
Let’s Make Some Cinnamon Roll Icing
To make, simply cream the butter (room temperature) and cream cheese together until it’s completely smooth. Next, add the powdered sugar, milk and vanilla. Mix all together until it’s silky, velvety and creamy. Make sure to scrape your bowl periodically so everything mixes up just perfectly!
Lastly, spread onto warm cinnamon rolls…and perfection! Enjoy every ooey gooey bite!

The BEST Cinnamon Roll Icing
Slightly cream cheesy, all butter and perfectly sweet, this icing is the best icing for any cinnamon roll!
- 1/2 Cup Butter Room Temperature
- 1/4 Cup Cream Cheese
- 2 Cups Powdered Sugar
- 3 Tbsp. Milk
- 1 Tbsp. Vanilla Extract
Cream the butter with the cream cheese until combined and light and fluffy.
Add the powdered sugar and mix into butter and cream cheese until smooth.
Mix in the milk and vanilla extract.
Spread over your favorite cinnamon rolls.
