If you’re looking for a delicious sauce to complement your dinner, this versatile white wine sauce is your go to recipe! It will complement and elevate just about anything you decide to prepare!
Plus, you can never go wrong with having an amazing sauce in your recipe repertoire! Being so versatile, it complements pasta, seafood, chicken, steamed vegetables, potatoes and…just about anything. This most definitely is the perfect sauce to liven up any meal!
Quick & Easy – Bursting With Flavor
It’s quick to put together, easy and bursting with flavor using just a few ingredients. The perfect weeknight (or weekend) meal addition!
It is a cream based sauce and is so rich in flavor with the addition of Parmesan cheese, garlic and the star ingredient…white wine. It’s so velvety and has a unique, slightly sweet taste from the addition of shallots. Onion can definitely be a substitute although shallots are a bit milder. To finish this amazing sauce, add a dash of fresh parsley! Pair with your favorite meal and enjoy immensely!
Add Even More Flavor
Add some more flavor and texture with the addition of mushrooms. If you enjoy them or a fan like my husband, just slice some up and stir them in! They are completely optional, but an amazing addition!
Or, add lemon and capers to the sauce for a quick take on chicken piccata. Just prepare and spoon over baked or sautéed chicken.
What Wine Do I Use?
I personally like to use a white wine I would drink and enjoy, though cooking wine is perfectly acceptable too. It’s all preference. A Chardonnay is preferable or something similar because you want a more full bodied wine that will be able to stand out in your sauce. Nothing too sweet either!
Let’s Start Cooking
It’s simple! Start out by cooking the shallots until they’re translucent. Add the garlic and briefly sauté until fragrant, but not browned. It burns rather quickly, so keep an eye on it!
Next, add the white wine and cook it down for about 5 minutes on medium-high heat. Then add the cream and Parmesan cheese. Simmer for about another 5 minutes and add the parsley and pepper to finish.
