Flaky Filo Pigs in a Blanket

Ingredients

  • 1 package Baby Hot Dogs Purchase your favorite kind!
  • 1 package Filo Dough (let thaw and separate into 10 sheet stacks)
  • 4 to 8 tbsp Butter - Melted
  • 1 tbsp Brown Sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees

  2. Open package of baby hot dogs and set aside

  3. Open package of filo dough and let thaw - this will take just a few minutes

  4. While the filo dough is thawing - take 4 to 8 tablespoons of butter and melt it on the stovetop or the microwave

  5. Take out a sheet tray and line with parchment paper - this will make sure the pigs in a blanket don't stick while cooking

  6. Take the thawed filo dough and unroll and separate out 10 sheets. Lay out the dough in the landscape position. Lightly butter each sheet and stack. This is where you can add as much or as little brown sugar as you'd like. Use your fingers and sprinkle it on every layer or just a few. Next, take a baby hot dog and measure the width of it on the filo dough. Take a knife and cut a strip through the 10 pieces.

  7. Take this strip and roll it on the baby hotdog

  8. Place on the baking sheet an inch apart with the seam of the dough at the bottom. This ensures the pigs in a blanket will not unroll while cooking.

  9. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 - 30 minutes or until golden brown - depending on how crispy you want them

  10. Let cool a few minutes and ENJOY!
