Crispy Panko Onion Rings

Golden Brown, crispy and crazy delicious, these onion rings are easy to make and perfect for any occasion.

  • 2 Sweet Yellow Onions
  • 1 Cup All Purpose Flour
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Ground Black Pepper
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 2 Cups Panko Bread Crumbs
  • 1-3 Cups Canola oil or any frying oil you prefer


  1. Slice the onions into rings, about 1/4 - 1/3 inch thick. Separate completely.

  2. Place the flour into a medium sized bowl along with the salt, pepper and garlic powder.

  3. Toss the onions into the flour and coat completely.

  4. Place into the buttermilk and coat completely.

  5. Next, toss and press the Panko onto the onion rings.

  6. Heat oil in a medium sized pot, about 1 - 1 1/2 inch thick, to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Drop in 3-4 onion rings at a time and fry until they’re golden brown, about 1 - 2 minutes.

  7. Place on a plate covered with paper towels or place onto a wire rack to drain excess oil and sprinkle with salt.

  8. Immediately enjoy with your favorite dipping sauce.
