I love wrapping! I love to lay out all the gifts that were purchased (and find out what I still may need to purchase!), my chosen wrapping paper of the year, scissors and tape. With all the chaos of the Holidays wrapping is relaxing and fun to me.
Before the Holidays begin, I like to brainstorm a fun wrapping idea that adults and kids will like. I have noticed that I usually involve some sort of candy included with my wrapping and this year is no different. Check out my wrapping theme last year that I just adore.
I went fun, bright, silly and spontaneous this year… candy bows! There are not too many people, if any, that I know that do not like M&M’s or Skittles (you have to at least love the red ones – they are the best!). This is what I am using for my “bows.” My wrapping paper itself is all over the board this year. It’s what happens when you let a two year old and a four year old pick out all the paper. I did pick out a couple rolls too…! I’m sure you can spot which ones!
These candy “bows” can brighten up any present and are so fast and easy to make. They are also not only a great present decoration, but it’s something that can be used. Not just another decoration to be thrown away. You can eat these bows!
I have all my wrapping paper and decided to go buy some “bows” to match. I bought large and small packages of M&M’s and Skittles (because larger presents will need bigger “bows”) – white bags, yellow bags, red bags… Depending on the size of the present the smaller candy bags work great and for the bigger presents, try the big size. The more proportioned the bow is and the size of the package the better it will all look.
For this project you will need:
- Presents to wrap – of course!
- Wrapping Paper
- Candy such as M&M’s, Skittles or any other candy with a similar size and shaped bags
First thing is first, start by wrapping all your presents. Then take an inventory of what kind of M&M’s and Skittles or other candy bags you may want to use. Then go out and buy the “bows” you choose to use.
To Make The “BOW”
Lay out your candy bag and make sure all the candies are dispersed evenly. Next take some ribbon and slide it underneath the candy and stop when you reach the center. Next, bunch up the center, tie it up tightly and spread out the edges. You now have a bow that can be placed on your presents! So easy!!
I also like to add tails to make them look more like a traditional bow.
These “bows” go with and paper design and adults and kids love them alike! They are different and fun and a “bow” that will be remembered for years to come!
Wrap it up and tie it with a bow!
